Intense aromas of black cherries, black truffle, orange peel and Indian spices. The palate is full yet reserved, with very fine tannins that fly linear and deep in the wine. Caressing texture. Reserved at the end. A real beauty. From organically grown grapes.

Balsamic aromas of camphor and pine forest mingle with truffle and plum cake on the fragrant 2019 Brunello fro San Polino. It’s also delicious, with flavors of raspberry tart, plum cake, cinnamon and nutmeg accompanied by taut, fine-grained tannins that lend seamless support. Fresh acidity keeps it well balanced.

From San Polino's holdings in the northeast on loamy clay soil. Exuberantly youthful and becoming, the 2019 rings out with violet and oily balsamic herbs. It gives a midweight impression - yet is packed with brambly fruit. An orange peel flourish is heightened by zesty acidity. And as this opens, savoury iron depths are revealed. Promising. Solid, clayey tannins clamp down on the finish. (MM)

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a dusty blend of dried flowers and strawberries enhanced by lemon oil touches. This is racy and sleek with cooling acidity and vividly ripe wild berry fruits lifted by orange and cedary spice. Its acidity wins the day, maintaining amazing freshness despite the grippy tannins that resonate throughout. The 2019 finishes long and staining with a pretty air of inner violet flowers that linger. San Polino continues to raise the bar; this is lovely. (EG)

San Polino is my favorite Direct Import Brunello producer. And 2019 was one of the most exceptional vintages ever produced. Certified organic and biodynamic, San Polino is one of the pioneers of sustainable viticulture in Montalcino, farming their high-altitude vineyards just outside the medieval town with meticulous care. The 2019 vintage brings a lifted aromatic profile: vivid cherry, rose petal, and dried orange peel float above undertones of cedar, leather, and crushed stone. On the palate, it’s silky and focused, balancing fine tannins with a crystalline core of red fruit and spice. The finish is long, mineral-driven, and quietly powerful—showcasing the freshness and classicism of the vintage. So awesome. Since this is a direct import for us, we offer this wine at a amazing price, 20-30$ off from his true value. A hidden gem in the K&L portfolio.

Notes

San Polino Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is an impressive expression of biodynamic winemaking from the northern slopes of Montalcino. The estate is known for its commitment to organic practices, ensuring that each vintage reflects the authentic character of the terroir. The 2019 growing season provided ideal conditions, with a balanced spring, a warm yet not overly hot summer, and a dry autumn that allowed for optimal phenolic ripeness. This Brunello presents a deep ruby color in the glass, with a complex bouquet of dark plums, blackcurrant, and tobacco, complemented by notes of violet, orange zest, and earthy minerality. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet fresh, with smooth tannins and a long, refined finish. The wine’s vibrant acidity and layered structure make it approachable now but also suitable for aging. The 2019 vintage has received critical acclaim, including 96 points from James Suckling, who praised its intense aromas and finely balanced tannins. This Brunello showcases San Polino's dedication to quality and tradition, delivering a wine of depth, elegance, and significant aging potential.
