Selbach-Oster has been growing grapes and crafting wines in the Mosel since the 1600s and their low intervention winemaking philosophy highlights the purity of the terroir. The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyard is one of the famous "sundial vineyards," that, as the name implies, capture a lot of sun due to their south/southwestern facing slopes and proximity to a large sundial built on the rocks by Jodocus Prum in 1842. This aromatic creamy Spätlese clocks in at 8% ABV with 65g/L of residual sugar! Mineral driven (from the slate soils) and bursting with lemon/lime, ripe stone and orchard fruit, and zippy acidity to tie it all together, the 2022 Selbach Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese is an excellent Mosel Riesling from a family steeped in the region's traditions.
