‘Nuits Blanches Au Bouges,’ Chardonnay continues a legacy of Au Bon Climat's elite, "Blue Series", bottlings built by Jim Clendenen in 1996 with the second generation of vintners, siblings Isabella and Knox. It is intensely aromatic on the nose, bursting with sun-warmed lemons, vanilla and macadamia nut, yet surprisingly fresh and balanced on the palate. Lean acid structure and notable minerality complement the ripe character, which otherwise dominates the palate. Flavours of lemon zest, green apple and cream give this wine a playful appeal, while a long, toasty finish elevates its initially cheeky introduction with a touch of sophistication. (VR)
