2022 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini Clos-St.-Denis Grand Cru

Review Date: 11/2023A fine bright purple. The nose is solid and concentrated, in a forward style of raspberry fruit. There is a wealth of fruit on the palate though not as seductive as Clos St-Denis can be, but all in balance and with an agreeably long finish. A really sensible, poised, approach to winemaking. 80% whole bunch vinification hardly shows, while 50% new oak feels about right.

Notes
Bill Nanson for Burgundy Report: "They can get 4 barrels from these 45-year-old vines. 80% whole bunch here and it’s the wine that gets the most new oak – 50% More of a cushion and so depth to this apparently textured nose. So beautiful and elegant but the fruit is completely pure and linear. That’s simply a superb, sublime, wine – wonderful CSD – faintly saline in this finish too – probably from the, otherwise hardly visible, oak." (01/2025)
