Reviewed January 2025The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroye 1er Cru is more expressive on the nose compared to the Les Chenevottes. It is flinty and slightly fumé in style, with lifted mineralité and plenty of energy here. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly more honeyed texture. There's ample extract here with grippier tannins on the finish. Give this time because this is a serious Chassagne, but the Les Vergers will be flattering in its youth.(NM)

Mid lemon yellow. Maybe a hint of pyrazine on the nose. White fruit with purity and some tension, a tannin or two at the finish. The most austere in the range. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2024.

A vague whiff of exotic character lurks in the background of the aromas of citrus confit, white peach, spice and poached pear. There is excellent volume to the caressing and seductive yet tension-filled flavors
that deliver very fine length on the firm, youthfully austere and bone-dry finale. This balanced effort will need at least some time as it’s pretty tightly wound today
