Sporting a deep purple/plum hue, the 2022 Grand Village (Lafleur) offers up a rocking bouquet of ripe black cherries and blackberry-like fruits as well as some truffly earth, licorice, and chalky minerality. It's a powerful, concentrated, medium to full-bodied, broad, and layered Grand Village that offers pleasure today yet is going to benefit from at least 4-6 years of bottle age and have 20+ years of overall longevity. The tannins are particularly velvety, and it has a Saint-Emilion-like sense of limestone minerality.

One of the best wines ever produced at this address, the 2022 Grand Village reveals a dense, bright and complex bouquet of cassis, mulberries, flowers and sweet berries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and round palate with a seamless texture framed by velvety tannins, concluding with a penetrating, ethereal finish. This blend of blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc benefits from the sort of careful winemaking usually reserved for cru classé wines. (YC)

A rich Grand Village with a pretty density of dark-plum, dark-chocolate and walnut character. Medium- to full-bodied with velvety tannins and a creamy, savory and fresh finish. Lovely opulence at the end. 80% merlot and 20% bouchet.

Soft floral aromas on the nose, delicate and gentle with milk chocolate, salty stones and freshness. Sleek and well framed, smooth but direct, the flavours drive from start to finish in one direction and movement. Juicy and plump, but controlled, not shouting. Acidity is well balanced - soft but cool with cola and creamy aspects and tannins that feel well supportive, not lean, sharp or plush. Round and complete, carefully controlled and feels confident. Has a strength but well positioned and finessed with lovely salinity. (GH)

Though the estate dates back to 1650, Grand Village is produced by Château Lafleur and is affectionately referred to as the “Village” of Lafleur. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it opens with a lovely nose of blackberries, petrichor, and a hint of vanilla. The palate follows with layers of blackberry, cassis, licorice, dried herbs, and crushed rock—beautifully balanced, it's an exceptional value!

This super new release is from the great 2022 vintage, and it shows. It has the forward fruit that one expects from this vintage and also has some very nice tannin to keep it balanced. Black cherry fruit with boysenberry and dark chocolate. This is backed up by cedary tannins, clean oak and light chalkiness on the upper palate. There are also faint hints of earth and roasting spices. Overall, it is a mellow and interesting soul!
