A rich and very pretty ruddy purple in the glass, the nose is rich and powerful. This has been open for a couple hours, so it's really blossoming out and giving everything that you want it to give. It's lush and rich and floral, with plums, blackberries, and figs in a beautiful fruit basket with a little bit of tar and some savory green herbs strewn about around it. The palate is really juicy, with really nice acidity but also a long and firm grip of tannin. This is not a soft wine, this is a wine that tastes like it wants to lay down for a little while and develop some rounder corners - or it has enough there that it could go with a rich and fatty cut of steak and that glorious and ever-loved fat potato. This is a beautiful monster of a wine, and a very serious bottle of Zinfandel for people who want structure with their fruit.
