Produced only in vintages with ideal ripeness and substantial acid backbone to guarantee longevity, Fuligni’s Riserva aspires to express the characteristics of a vintage to their fullest. With simmering fragrance, regal structure and inner brightness to illuminate the wine’s profound depths, the 2019 edition definitely succeeds. Intense cherry, orange zest, heady truffle and forest roots take hold on the nose. The fruit is pristine and even sleek and curvaceous but the tannins have a countering bite. Tangy pomegranate rings out from the core of this elegantly weighted gem; everything is neatly in place and unfolding at a tastefully measured gait.

Dried-berry, orange-peel and flower aromas follow through to a medium body with ultrafine tannins that blend nicely into the wine, delivering energy and length. Lovely ripe fruit with a juicy and flavorful finish. A classic and wonderfully proportioned young Brunello. Drinkable but better after 2026 and beyond.

It sweeps across the palate with a radiant and classic feel, with vividly ripe red fruits and sweet spices perfectly guided by a core of brilliant acidity. Its minerality comes through in the finish, tactile and saline in form. A web of fine-grained tannins wrap the senses with youthful poise, nuances of cedar and inner rose. The 2019 is spellbinding and built for the cellar. What a beauty.

Coming from a vintage that critics have universally hailed as perfect, this Riserva is built for the long haul. Selected from the estate's oldest vines and aged longer in traditional oak, this is a brooding, serious wine. The nose is darker and more introspection than the annata, showing black plum, truffle, leather, and distinct balsamic notes. On the palate, it is powerful and firmly structured, with the noble, grippy tannins that demand patience. There is a density here that sets it apart, a core of savory fruit that is tightly coiled and ready to unfurl over the next 20+ years. This is a "Grand Cru" level wine for the serious collector.
