2001 Prince Florent de Merode Corton Grand Cru "Les Maréchaudes"
Notes
For years the name Prince Florent de Mérode was relatively unknown outside of the circle of Burgundy insiders who knew that the quality of their wines quite often exceeded their modest prices. That all changed in 2008 when the prince and his wife both passed away. Their remaining family decided to lease their 2.27 hectares of Grand Cru Corton vineyards to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and now Prince Florent de Mérode is a household name again (at least amongst wine aficionados).
