The 2021 Gaja Vistamare - a white wine from Gaja’s Ca’Marcanda estate in Bolgheri - is an intriguing blend of three white grape varieties, Vermentino, Viognier and Fiano, that really seem to work well together. It has a pale white-gold color, and a delicate nose of lightly smoky, fresh, green fruit. The palate is vibrant, fresh and juicy with a delicately creamy texture and crunchy green apple and white peach flavors. There is a twist of pink grapefruit bitterness on the finish, but it is all very deftly done and elegant. With this 2021 vintage both the blend and the texture seem to be getting better and better. This is a beautifully made wine. (SH)
