Fresh and bright with notes of saline and citrus this is a wonderful 1er Cru that deftly mixes beautiful fruit notes with racy acidity. The Vaucoupin is a seriously complex wine that ungilds on the palate to reveal layer-after-layer of pure citrus and orchard fruit notes interlaced with hints of saline and mineral notes. A classic Chablis 1er Cru that is in a great drinking place right now.

There are 40 main 1er Cru vineyards in Chablis and Vaucoupin is one of its largest. A steep, south-facing, sun-drenched vineyard located in southeast Chablis, Vaucoupin produces full round and ripe expressions of Chardonnay. 2023 was hot and dry. In typical Burgundy fashion, viticulturists had to battle spring frosts, rain (mildew!), and drought to make it to the finish line, but the harvest had high yields of lush ripe grapes. The Agnes Gleizes is lean, high tone citrus, racy acidity, with a rich ripe mouthfeel and a terrific tropical finish!

This wine is bright, zesty, and complex! It's definitely racy, but there's orchard fruit and that Chablisienne salinity to balance it out. This wine is dense and complex, though, and the layers just continue to unfurl as you sip. This is a bottle that will continue to impress as it opens over the course of your evening. It's also a nice candidate for aging if you're looking to fill out your cellar!
