Review Date: 06/2024The "vino de paraje" 2022 Finca Luna Beberide was produced with Mencía from Valdetruchas in Villafranca del Bierzo. It matured in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels for eight months. It has a varietal profile with wild berries and herbs, contained ripeness and 13.5% alcohol. It's perfumed and floral and has an elegant, medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and balancing acidity. This is a triumph over the 2022 heat. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2024. (LG)

A wine which is greater than the sum of its parts, it is blended from grapes from the estate’s different parcels. It offers both pretty notes of rose and red cherry fruit with a fleshy palate and layers of sotobosque. There’s just enough tannic grip on the finish and loads of energy from impressive acidity. It is fresh, juicy and completely delicious. At the price, this is a lot of wine. 2024-27 (BW)

The 2022 Finca Luna Beberide Paraje Valdetruchas, 100% Mencía from Bierzo, has light pomegranate, watermelon and rose aromas complemented by oak. Dry and smooth, the 2022 offers delicate tannins, medium weight and balanced freshness, finishing long with fruit and aging hints at 13.5% alcohol. (JH)

Email MariahThis wine is very pretty, fragranced like potpourri with pomegranate on the palate. Bright and fresh, this juicy fruit-forward red has zippy acid and a long dry finish. It's like a light blazer; playful enough for a picnic yet serious enough to dress up for a nice dinner.
