Decanter
Reviewed April 2024Fairly straightforward style of Ventoux but has good acidity and freshness. Persistence too. Full-bodied, but certainly fresh. Oak work is discrete and well balanced. Light mineral feel on the finish. From vineyards situated between 400m and 500m above sea level. (MW)
Notes
A collaboration between the monks and nuns of the Abbey le Barroux and the Caritatis winegrowers, Via Caritatis cultivates some of the oldest vineyards in France - originally cultivated by popes as early as the 14th century. Their wines successfully transmit Southern Rhône's terroir in the glass, with energy and verve to spare. Clairette, Roussanne. Soft pressing. Vinification at low temperature-slow fermentation. Ageing on lees for 6 months. Very perfumey aromas-Scents of white flower. Citric notes on the palate-fine acidity. Very clean and crisp on the finish. Delightful.
