Review Date: 01/2024In lightning. Fine mid purple. The bouquet shows the cooler aspects of Pernand though this is a fine east facing vineyard. Really racy lively stuff with excellent energy behind, concentrated fresh raspberry. This should also age well even though the tannins do not spring to the fore – but there is a natural sense of balance. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2023.

Revealing aromas of cherries, sweet red berries and petals, the 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Clos de la Croix de Pierre (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, with a pretty core of fruit and a chalky, mineral finish.
Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. As I've written before, in the cellar, foudres and 500-liter barrels now complement classic 228-liter pièces, a further evolution adapting to warmer, riper vintages. A cold room also helps chill down any fruit that's too warm when it enters the winery. 2022 is also the second vintage of organic conversion for the Domaine Louis Jadot and the Domaine Gagey.(NM)

Moderately generous wood fights somewhat with the otherwise cool and airy essence of red berry fruit aromas. The mouthfeel of the lilting middleweight flavors is almost delicate while evident minerality adds a sense of lift to the dusty, moderately austere and slightly drying finish.
