2023 Filaments "Snows Crossing Vineyard" Cinsault El Dorado County
Review Date: 02/2025
We love Filaments here at K&L! Filaments began at Bedrock winery in Sonoma where Erik Latshaw and Kevin Farrow spent the 2014 season helping Morgan Twain-Peterson and Chris Catrell produce their acclaimed wines. The following season, they purchased enough grapes from their epic Bedrock Vineyard to strike out on their own, and have been slowly adding extremely small lots of impeccably crafted wines from some of California’s best vineyard sites ever since. Erik is the principal winemaker whose resume reads like a who's-who of American winemaking: Patz & Hall, Marcassin, Vineyard 29, Shea Vineyards and Carlisle. The 2021 Cinsault is a celebration of wines like Turley’s incredible “Bechthold Vineyard” Cinsault, which has developed a cult following in the California wine scene. This style is medium bodied, almost like cinsault-by-way-of Pinot Noir in terms of its aromatic expressiveness, lightness and vividness on the palate, as well as a crunchy tannin profile. This is one of the best Cinsaults I’ve ever had. We were so thrilled by this wine that we bought all three barrels exclusively for K&L customers. This is an exciting, distinctive wine that you won’t find anywhere else.
