2022 Odette "Estate" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

Displays some punch, with a juicy edge to its core of dark plum, blackberry and açaí. Licorice snap and apple wood notes also show drive through the finish, with the fruit keeping pace (a rarity in this vintage). Tasted thrice, with consistent notes. Drink now through 2033. (JM)

Sweet cassis, blue fruits, violets, flowery incense, pencil lead, and spicy, leather-like notes define the classic 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon from Odette, a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 3% Malbec that spent 20 months in 65% new French oak. Sporting a healthy ruby/purple hue, this medium-bodied, floral, exotic 2022 has the perfumed, upfront style of the vintage, solid tannins, and good overall balance. While coming from a challenging, heatwave vintage, this nevertheless holds onto a good sense of purity, has plenty of fruit and texture, and is ideal for drinking over the coming decade or so.
