As the Talley family's entry-level brand, this is a very exciting indication of what to expect in the 2023 wines. This bottling offers crunchy raspberry, red currant, white pepper, sansho pepper and dewy sage on the dynamic nose. The palate is awash in a zippy acidity that enlivens the thyme, bay leaf and raspberry flavors. *Editor's Choice* (MK)

The 2023 Pinot Noir is an absolute delight. Aromatic and light on its feet, it offers up generous crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, mint and hints of spice. This mid-weight, vibrant Pinot offers tons of San Luis Obispo Coast character—it’s a great value, too. (AG)

For the 15+ years I’ve worked at K&L, Talley’s Bishop’s Peak Pinot Noir has been one of the most consistently over-delivering bottles of Pinot Noir on our shelves. Back when I worked the sales floor every day from 2011 to 2013, this was a wine I put into customers’ hands time and again because of the value it offered: a well-made Pinot Noir with terrific varietal character, wonderful purity, balance, and a level of complexity far beyond what you’d expect at this modest price point. Here in 2026, all of that still rings true. And today, we have an even sharper price on the wine than we did more than a decade ago. The 2023 Bishop’s Peak Pinot is one of the best versions of this little gem I’ve seen in years, a testament to the quality of the long, cool growing season. The wine is sourced from Talley’s three estate vineyards in Arroyo Grande along with fruit from Greengate Ranch in Edna Valley. All of these excellent vineyards fall within the heavily coast-influenced SLO Coast AVA, established in 2022. The fruit is SIP Certified Sustainable, fermented with native yeast in small open-top tanks, and punched down by hand. The wine was then aged for six months in 20% new French oak. That relatively short élevage and modest use of new oak really allow the wine’s purity of fruit and fragrance to shine. It offers pure forest berry fruit, potpourri, and pomegranate, with hints of cinnamon and allspice alongside bramble leaf and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, bright, and delicious, with just 13.5% ABV. The winery sells this wine for $24, and we’ve typically offered it at $20. Right now, though, we have a spectacular Insider’s Advantage price that brings it in under $15, where it stands as simply one of the best Pinot Noir values you can buy anywhere.

If you're looking for a sub-$15 Pinot Noir that will blow your mind, this is it. It has a Burgundian profile (20% new French oak, forest floor, garrigue, mushroom) with a California twist (crunchy ripe red fruit, dark cherry, herbs, and spice). A crowd-pleasing domestic Pinot that punches way above its price point. Load up now. This one will go fast.

I love Pinot Noir but rarely come across ones I like at value price points. This one, however, is outstanding. It's high quality fruit from Edna Valley and the Talley Estate vineyards that truly over delivers. It's soft, fresh and flavorful and drinks perfectly now. This is a serious sleeper pick!

Notes

The majority of this wine comes from Greengate Ranch in Edna Valley plus fruit from all of Talley's estate vineyards in Arroyo Grande Valley. Fermented with native yeast in small, open-top tanks, aged in 20% new French oak for 10 months. One of the best deals in Californian Pinot Noir. Certified Sustainable fruit.
