The great Long Pond distillery remains one of Jamaica’s most hallowed rum addresses, a Trelawny Parish legend founded in 1753 and responsible for some of the most idiosyncratic pot still distillates on earth. That date also links it beautifully to Rest & Be Thankful, whose name comes from the scenic viewpoint in Glen Croe, Scotland, overlooking the old military road completed that same year. This exceptional single cask was bottled exclusively for Glass Revolution in the USA, and Rest & Be Thankful’s whisky roots show in the best possible way: single-cask discipline, careful sourcing, and a refusal to obscure the character of the spirit. Distilled at Long Pond in July 1998, cask #10245 was bottled in March 2022 after 23 years of tropical and continental maturation in American oak. The mark is LSO, a lighter Long Pond style by reputation, but at 57.6% ABV, with 146.6 g/hlpa esters, 642.7 g/hlpa volatile substances, more than 46% angel’s share, and just 177 bottles produced, there is nothing timid about it. This is the elegant, high-definition side of Trelawny rum: lime oil, green banana, cane, polished oak, brine, roasted pineapple, cocoa, and warm spice, all driven by that unmistakable Long Pond intensity. Dry, structured, deeply aromatic, and completely unsweetened in feel, this is historic Jamaican rum bottled with the same seriousness collectors expect from great single malt. A tiny parcel from one of the Caribbean’s true greats.
