2023 Tenuta Santa Lucia "Baccareto" Rubicone Romagna IGT
Review Date: 08/2025
Once open, this wine is so pretty and floral, there's a lot of white flowers, raspberry and orange blossoms, and a little bit of tomato leaf along with some crunchy and ripe red fruit. The palate is bright with fantastic acidity, and a nice firm grip of tannin encouraging me to have this with some food rather than by itself, but it's nothing that a little nosh couldn't fix. The fruit is almost a little dusty on the palate, but it's also got a really nice roundness to it, not quite crunchy but just a little tart. Cherry, raspberry, and a little strawberry all clasp hands and circle about that dustier darker core, the tannin and acidity fighting each other towards the finish and the tannin winning by the hair. This is just such an easy wine to enjoy, the kind you just open up early and then enjoy with your meal after it's had time to get pretty.

Notes
Tenuta Santa Lucia "Baccareto" Rubicone Romagna IGT is a delightful and expressive red wine from the Romagna region in Italy, produced by Tenuta Santa Lucia. The wine is made from the native Sangiovese grape, which thrives in the rolling hills of Romagna. "Baccareto" showcases the fresh, vibrant character of this varietal, offering an approachable yet refined expression of Sangiovese from this lesser-known region. On the nose, "Baccareto" reveals aromas of ripe cherries, red berries, and plums, with subtle floral notes of violets and a hint of earthy spices. The palate is medium-bodied and lively, with fresh acidity that balances the ripe red fruit flavors and soft tannins. Delicate hints of herbs and a touch of minerality add complexity, leading to a clean, smooth finish with good length.
