The Eichberg being 3 years younger than the Brand is more rich and full-bodied with higher-toned fruit and considerably less oxidation. Lively with zesty notes of white grapefruit and spice this Riesling is super refreshing with a classical feel. The 2022 vintage was hot but the wine here has remarkable balance and purity of fruit that belies the heat of the vintage. Another great wine from Charles Baur that offers an amazing value at less than $25 for a Grand Cru Riesling.

A rich petrol forward nose has some lemon curd and peach skin along with a touch of something slightly green like a gooseberry. The palate is light and lean with a good and healthy acidity. There's a lot more savory components here, but there's lemon pith and zest along with under ripe peach or nectarine and a long line of slightly saline minerality. This is a delicious and slightly understated bottle of Riesling that will age for years and years to come and just develop and develop getting deeper and deeper as time goes on. Very tasty now and Riesling is, as always, one of the most versatile grapes you can use for wine pairings. Have it with anything from soft fresh cheese to Mexican food, it'll work somehow - that's the magic of Riesling and why so many Sommeliers have fallen in love with wines from Alsace.
