Founded in 2000 by John Glaser, the London based blending house has built its reputation by sourcing exceptional parcels of mature malt and assembling them with a level of transparency and flavor driven design rarely seen in the category. Crimson Casks is the richest permanent expression in the modern Compass Box range, built around a core of sherry matured malts selected for depth, fruit, and texture. The blend draws heavily from whisky distilled at Benrinnes and matured in first fill oloroso sherry butts, supported by parcels of malts from distilleries such as Glen Moray and others aged in additional sherry and custom French oak wine casks. The result is a deeply colored, full bodied whisky bottled at 46% ABV with natural color and no chill filtration. The nose shows dense red fruit, cocoa powder, and sweet pipe tobacco layered over clove and polished oak. The palate is rich and rounded with cherry compote, raisin, and dark caramel balanced by baking spice and toasted malt.
