At its heart is a mix of Highland single malts such as Clynelish, Linkwood, and Balmenach combined with grain whisky from distilleries like Girvan and Cameronbridge. What makes the recipe unusual is Compass Box’s custom oak program. Special virgin American oak barrels are first used to season grain whisky with sweet spice before being refilled with malt whisky, allowing the casks to layer rich vanilla, toasted oak, and pastry like sweetness into the final blend. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV with natural color and no chill filtration. The nose is bright and expressive with honey, poached pear, apricot, and citrus peel backed by vanilla and warm baking spice.
