There’s real generosity beneath that precision, exploding across the palate with effusive white floral notes and crushed almond nuances. Signature briny salinity comes through clearly, some lemon oil, followed by a flicker of underripe pineapple on the finish. Already complex and deeply enticing, yet clearly built for the long haul. Château Montelena is one of the most prominent Napa Valley wineries and was directly associated with bringing international recognition to the California wine industry through the 1976 Judgment of Paris. Based in Calistoga, the winery is most famous for its wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in particular, but Zinfandel holds quite a prominent place as well.
