For nearly two decades, the sparkling wines of Françoise Antech-Gazeau have been a fixture on our shelves, and with good reason—they remain among the finest non-Champagne sparklers we import. The Eugénie Brut is a classic blend of 70% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin Blanc, and 10% Mauzac, finished with a dosage under 6 g/L. Since the 2021 release they have lowered the dosage and their wines have become more focused and precise. The wine opens with aromas and flavors of Red Delicious apple, as crisp and polished as a freshly cut slice, alongside juicy nectarine and dried pear that recall sun-warmed orchard fruit. The palate is dry and focused, with a finish that carries a subtle lift of ginger spice, like a quiet accent at the end of a phrase. At well under $20 a bottle, it remains one of the most compelling values in sparkling wine.
