Reviewed April 2025This is the producer’s 20th year working with SLH grapes (which started with Rosella’s), and the 2022 Pinot Noir is a worthy celebration, sourced from Garys’, Rosella’s, Sierra Mar, and Soberanes. Nuanced in black cherry, raspberry, and chaparral, which surrounds so many of the vineyards, the wine is medium-bodied and concentrated in soft layers of well-integrated oak, focused acidity, and supple tannin. It should age well another 10-12 years. (VB)

Aromas of dark cherries, dried herbs, plums and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a generous mouthfeel, giving flavors of blackberries, spices and toffee apples. Complex and brooding, with a fine touch. Drink or hold.
Notes
According to the Kosta Browne team, "The 2022 vintage is nuanced with black cherry, raspberry, and blood orange fruit flavors, complemented by a subtle essence of chaparral. Fermented in both concrete and oak tanks, this expressive Pinot Noir boasts intriguing layers that unfold with a beautifully composed structure."
