The 2022 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has an absolutely delectable bouquet with irresistible scents of yellow flowers, orange pith, crushed limestone and light nutmeg scents. You could just sit there and nose this all day. The palate is extremely well balanced with a killer line of acidity, very intense and powerful with a satisfyingly long tail on the finish. Note: from a .54 ha parcel. Here too there is just enough wood present to merit mentioning setting off the nose of essence of acacia, spiced pear, heavy mineral reduction, oyster shell, iodine and that pungent tidal pool character. On the palate the imposingly-scaled flavors also brim with sappy dry extract as well an almost aggressive minerality on the compact, powerful and driving finale that is serious and unbelievably persistent yet not especially austere. Racy lemon and lime, with an exquisite and explosive nose. A very light toast too. Lots going on here. A glorious wealth of fruit but above all it is the backbone, the line, this is the most pure yet concentrated expression of Chablis that one can imagine. Endless aftertaste. Just more open today?
