A well-rounded, seductive and refreshing Muscadet with aromas of lime, chalk and mild spices. Medium body with fresh acidity. A deliciously silky white with crispiness and comforting volume giving nice balance to the salivating finish.

Muscadet is one of those regions that the average wine consumer may misinterpret upon first glance. They may remember the days when they drank floral aromatic and slightly sweet Muscat (or very sweet for me!). But Muscadet is not Muscat and they have nothing in common except for a similar sounding name. Muscadet is actually made from the grape Melon de Bourgogne, which is relatively neutral on the nose but develops complexity through aging on its lees after fermentation. When done well it is crisp and clean with a kiss of salinity that makes you crave shellfish instantly. The Amoureux is classically styled, seeing about 6 months of lees aging in large tank. There are notes of green apple, pear and a kiss of oyster shell. This is a mouthwatering white that will make a great aperitif and pair beautifully with any light seafood fare that you can throw at it. Clean, fresh and everything you could ask for in a Muscadet but definitely not a Muscat.

Notes

Composed of Melon de Bourgogne, this wine was made to pair with sushi, shellfish, or roasted chicken. Moules Frites is a classic pairing!
