2017 Donelan "Barbed Oak Vineyard - Cushing's Block" Bennett Valley Pinot Noir

Review Date: 07/2021Moving to the Pinot Noirs, the 2017 Pinot Noir Cushing's Block comes from the higher elevation, cooler Bennett Valley in Sonoma County. It reveals a lighter ruby, almost plum hue to go with a classic bouquet of mulled red and black fruits, forest floor, and Asian spices. A Burgundian, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced Pinot Noir, it offers nicely integrated acidity, supple, light tannins, and a great finish. Drink this terrific effort any time over the coming decade.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Cushing's Block is a delicate, gracious and ethereal wine with very pretty notes of crushed flowers, dried red cherry, blood orange, mint and chalk. This is an especially perfumed, floral style but there is good energy beneath all of that. (AG)

Crisp and stemmy, this is an intensely savory, forest-floor flavored wine, delicate on the palate and in silky texture. The richness is complemented by freshness and length. It's a native-fermented vineyard-designate that saw 20% whole-cluster fermentation. (VB)
