The succulent, round and plump medium-bodied flavors are generously proportioned yet retain good delineation on the lingering finale that is shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins. This too is very Beaune in style while offering just a bit more depth.

A pleasing mid purple. The bouquet is very joyous. A lively and fresh fruit, with clean raspberries at the back. A fine balance with just a touch more acidity. Also a late malolactic, like the Volnay, but this has cleaned up beautifully to offer purity and precision.

The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Les Epenottes reveals aromas of dark berries, orange zest, sweet spices and peony, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's textural and succulent, with a generous core of fruit and little perceptible tannin to impede near-term pleasure. (WK)

The 2021 Beaune Les Epenottes 1er Cru, which comes from leased vines, was unaffected by frost. It has a bright and vibrant nose with dark berry fruit and a light sea spray tincture. The palate is medium-bodied with bright acidity, citrus, cranberry and raspberry fruit. This is very pretty and absolutely delicious. (NM)
