2023 Domaine de Fondrèche Ventoux Blanc
93
Jeb Dunnuck
Review Date: 02/2025The 2023 Ventoux Domaine Blanc is a juicy, incredibly elegant white that's from a cooler, limestone terroir. Ripe lime, honeyed minerality, and minty herbs all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with remarkable purity and integrated acidity.

Notes
Located in the foothills of Mont Ventoux lies one of the top producers in the Ventoux region of the Rhone - Domaine de Fondreche. Vigneron Sebastien Vincenti took over the winemaking from his mother in 2005. With an eye toward biodiversity and using organic and biodynamic practices for many years, Fondreche was recently certified organic in 2022. The winery sits on a plateau comprised of alluvial soils of clay and gravel with a mix of silex (flint) thrown in for good measure. The Blanc comes from the sandier soils on the property. That cooling soil helps preserve the freshness in the wine. Fermentation is done in stainless steel tank with no malolactic. It is aged in concrete tanks for six months before bottling. It is a blend of 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Roussanne, 30% Clairette, and 10% Rolle.
