A level of ripeness and structure not seen in any 2018 Barolos, with ripe-strawberry, cedar and fresh-earth aromas and flavors. Full and expansive yet fine tannins and a fresh finish give this young red seductive sensibility. Very, very long. Best after 2026.

Roberto Voerzio manages the extremes of Cerequio - a southern exposition at the bottom and two more east-facing sites at the top of the MGA. This combination gives the 2018 a specific vibrancy - there is no garnet hue here. The aroma is soapy, with a cinnamon vibrancy, black pepper spice and plenty of pencil lead. This graphite note appears on the palate too, allied to ripe, creamy tannins, moderate yet good acidity and a refreshing, polished finish. Still oak-dominated, it's otherwise ready to drink.
