2023 Domaine Huët "Clos du Bourg" Vouvray Demi-Sec

John Gilman
Review Date: 05/2024The 2023 Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec from Domaine Huët is another beautiful example of the vintage. As is often the case these days, this wine comes in a half point higher in octane than the Le Mont version, tipping the scales at 13.5 percent alcohol. The wine offers up a superb aromatic constellation of sweet quince, yellow plum, beeswax, honeycomb, chalky minerality, lanolin and a topnote of citrus blossoms. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with a lovely core of fruit, just a whisper of early honey tones, good acids and focus and a long, succulent and very tasty finish. This is another beautiful bottle of Demi-Sec, but it does not quite have the filigree of the Le Mont version this year.

Notes
Domaine Huët has been a leading force in the Vouvray appellation for quite sometime now, and today is regarded as one of the premier producers of Chenin Blanc in the Loire Valley, if not the world. Founded in 1928, the estate now covers 35 hectares, which are divided up between three properties - Le Mont, Le Haut-Lieu and Le Clos du Bourg - all that have been farmed biodynamically since 1990. These wines are stunning and are worth being in your cellar. *Biodynamic*
