The nose begins with a shooting star of sweet candied cherry and vanilla before it burns up and leaves behind a dark, savory sky of coffee, old leather and burnt caramel. The sun rises on the palate, with strawberry and blood orange notes joining the resurgent cherry. Compressed tannins and vigorous acidity provide structure. (DC)

The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino is attractively layered with spiced red plum, balsamic, and sweet cedar. Seamless and approachable, it is medium bodied, with a soft mineral texture and super-fine tannins. Fresh red cherry, orange rind, and delicate salty earth intertwine and find fantastic balance throughout. It is a beautiful wine to enjoy over the next 10-15 years. (AF) 93+

Aromas of fresh raspberries, sour cherries, lemons, walnuts and vanilla beans. It’s succulent and flavorful with a medium body and creamy tannins. Tangy fruit turns to creamy chocolate. Lovely drinkability.

Ripe berry, cracked peppercorn, star anise and tobacco aromas mingle with new leather and blue flower. Linear and still youthfully austere, the palate offers sour cherry, cranberry, botanical herb and ground clove alongside taut, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. It’s still youthfully austere and will benefit with more time in the bottle.

La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is a masterful example of why this producer is so beloved by Brunello connoisseurs. Situated in the northern region of Montalcino, La Gerla creates wines that strike a balance of beauty and structure. The 2018 vintage is no exception, with a focus on tradition and precision. It is a reflection of the Brunello terroir and the estate's dedication to it. The nose has notes of ripe cherries, red currants and dried cranberries. With rose petals, leather and earthy spices. An immediately attractive wine. The palate is medium to full-bodied. With fine-grained tannins and lively acidity, beautifully laid out, fruity, red berry flavors, fragrant herbs and the delicate minerals are displayed beautifully. This results in a long-lasting, balanced flavor. La Gerla is known for its careful vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques. This includes fermentation and aging in large Slavonian oak barrels, so the Sangiovese Grosso grape can show its full potential. While maintaining the freshness and complexity of the wines. This wine pairs perfectly with classic Tuscan dishes such as bistecc alla Fiorentina (grilled Florentine steak), wild boar ragu or aged pecorino cheese. For Brunello lovers, the 2018 La Gerla offers sophistication and reliability at a price that exceeds quality. Whether you're new to Brunello or an experienced collector, This wine stands out from a vintage that emphasizes balance and elegance. It's a wine that deserves a place in your cellar or on your dining table.
