Cuish Madrecuishe (Hermógenes Vasquez) Logoche Miahuatlan Uncertified Mezcal (750ml)
Notes
The exceptional distiller from Logoche, San Luis Amatlán in Miahuatlán named Hermógenes Vasquez is well regarded in mezcal circles for producing exceptional mezcal of the highest order. This extremely high quality batch of 100% Madrecuishe (Agave karwinskii) was cooked in traditional earthen pit oven and milled using a small mechanical grinder. Fermented in cypress wood vats (tinas) with well water it was distileed twice in a traditional alembic copper pot still. Only 400 liters were distilled. Tasting notes from the bottler, "Elegant and bold, with aromas of peanut hull and subtle lilac unfurling into watermelon rind, tender pea shoots, a hint of cucumber, fresh bricks, wet river stone and moss, and a lingering finish of sawdust and saline. Logoche, Miahuatlán, is fast becoming an internationally revered distilling community within the mezcal world. Among the most iconic distillers in Logoche are Hermogenes García Vasquez, Paula Aquino Sanchez, and their son Jorge, who work together to produce just around 1500 liters of mezcal per year. The exceptional quality of their spirits clearly reflects the sensitivity and passion with which they work—truly a privilege to experience. Hermogenes himself is known to wax poetic about the flavors and aromas he experiences in each individual batch."
