Perhaps the finest value I’ve seen from the ‘22 vintage (and to be honest one of the best values in the entire store currently). This delightful Pinot Noir comes from a small, 10-acre estate planted in 2007 to a mix of heritage clones (Coury, Wädenswil, Pommard), plus some Dijon 667 and 115. The site sits in the heart of Ribbon Ridge, probably the most highly coveted sub-region of the Willamette Valley and the smallest AVA in Oregon. The soils are Willakenzie Series, an ancient marine sedimentary soil uplifted into the Chehalem Mountains. Owner/winemaker Robert McKinley learned his craft at famed wineries such as Williams-Selyem, The Hilt/Jonata, Trisaetum, and New Zealand’s Craggy Range. Beautiful focus, crunchy, bright fruits of the forest, hard ground spices, agarwood, incense, chalky earth elements. Very elegant and refined, I love the energy and lift here. Just a ridiculous value at our Insider’s Advantage price of almost 70% off.

Our Insider Advantage deals for Domestic wine have been absolutely & consistently fantastic all year here, and we're not done with the deals yet! Next up for a *steep* discounted pricing is a pedigreed bottle of pure Ribbon Ridge, for far below its market price! A forest air breeze lifts the nose with bramble spices, while herbal smoke and Douglas Fir dial in the forest fruit. A solid mineral heart of ancient marine sediment, providing a rocky tonality to the savory fruit. Finishing on notes of tart pomegranate and cranberry zest, this wine has far more structure and intensity than the current pricing implies - this is a serious, pure Oregon Pinot!

The word 'value' has been thrown around a lot in the wine world lately. But the truth is, there are just a lot of phenomenal values right now, and this is one of the best I've seen. On paper, a bottle of Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir from a good vintage, at this price is already a winner. All we needed to do is taste and confirm, and that's exactly what we did, repeatedly! Pretty aromas of black plums, dark berries, cranberries, and dark chocolate. On the palate, juicy, refreshing, with a long, smoky finish. Delicious and crowd pleasing, the perfect wine by the case for a party.

Notes

Ribbon Ridge is often considered the prime sub-region in the Willamette Valley for world-class Pinot Noir. This tiny appellation is home to icons such as Beaux Freres, Sequitur, Ribbon Ridge Estate, Patricia Green, Brick House and more. Norris planted their small 10 acre estate in 2007 to a mix of heritage clones (Coury, Wädenswil, Pommard), plus some Dijon 667 and 115. The soils are Wilakenzie, an ancient marine sedimentary soil. Having learnt his craft at famed wineries such as Williams-Selyem, The Hilt / Jonata, Trisaetum, Craggy Range and others, owner / winemaker Robert McKinley has put down roots on this family estate.
