This is part of a trio of wines from Franck Bonville just begging to be opened as a vertical, along with the Pur Mesnil and Pur Oger. Thankfully, I had the luxury to experience such a tasting. This one coming from the Grand Cru vineyard of Avize is 100% Chardonnay with 5 years on the lees, source from three different sites in Avize. The Pur Avize is full of citrus, with some candied fruit on the palate, all tied together with a backbone of minerality (due to the famous chalk of Avize). The acidity is very well-integrated here, making a balanced wine really showcasing the terroir of Pur Avize!
