2023 Husch "Late Harvest" Mendocino County Gewurztraminer (375mL)

Decanter
Review Date: 09/2024Fruit is left on the vine after the dry wine harvests are done for the Husch Gewürtztraminer. This results in raisned and borytisied berries that are then picked for this late harvest bottling. Gorgeous aromas of sweet honey, whispers of ginger spice and grilled pineapple. The palate is rich, with honey, spice, nutmeg and poached pear. It all finishes bright and brilliant. (CP)

James Suckling
A super-concentrated, sweet and intense wine that's light in alcohol but rich in honey, baked peaches, minerals, white pepper and lychee flavors. It fills the mouth with syrupy fruitiness that is nicely offset by mild acidity for good balance. Drinkable now, but best from 2028.

Jeb Dunnuck
A botrytised sweet wine with 15% residual sugar by weight, packaged in a 375 ml bottle, the 2023 Gewurztraminer Late Harvest is appealing in concentrated floral aromatics that lead to soft layers of peach, honeycomb, and graham cracker flavor dusted in cinnamon and nutmeg. It should drink well enjoyed through 2033.
