2021 Domaine Bernard et Thierry Glantenay Volnay 1er Cru "Les Brouillards"

Thierry Glantenay’s rows of vines in les Brouillards lie right alongside those of Louis Boillot. This wine has turned out beautifully in 2021, delivering a refined aromatic constellation of plums, red and black cherries, raw cocoa, gamebird, a fine base of dark soil tones, a hint of vanillin oak, currant leaf and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a fine core of fruit, lovely soil inflection, fine-grained tannins and a long, poised and seamlessly balanced finish. I love the tension on the backend here, which adds lovely lift in the wine. (Drink between 2031-2080)
