This is more in the classic, subtle, and nuanced vein that folks often expect with Léoville-Barton, especially when compared to the flashy (but delicious) examples of 2019 and 2022. The violet and peony floral aromas almost invoke Margaux, as does the deeper fruit on the nose. But on the palate, it is all Barton, with a great roundness, density, structure, and core of red fruit that always seems to be a signature at the estate. There’s a subtle depth here – not an obvious wine. While there’s structure to spare, the tannins are also refined and balanced.
