Damine Hugot's old vine prestige cuvee is 100% 2018, 100% Chouilly, a Grand Cru village located in the heart of the Cote des Blancs, and 100% Derriere Le Mont Aigu, a prestigious single vineyard in Chouilly. Like Hugot's other champagnes, the Vielles Vignes is barrel fermented (barriques). The old vines and oxidative methodology, produces a luxurious rich Meursault-esque Blanc de Blancs that would fit a big buttery lobster tail like a glove! Floral, ripe and round, baked apple, pie crust, lime, hazelnut, chalky minerality, wrap up with a long dry finish. Fantastic!

This incredibly refined Champagne is crafted from a single vineyard with vines over 70 years old. It's crisp, dry, compact and very focused. This is a serious Champagne that is especially impressive with lobster and richer seafood dishes. Blanc de Blancs fans will not want to miss this one.

The nose is light. On the palate, the wine turns surprisingly rich and layered, driven by bright acidity that keeps the weight in check. Integrated oak is evident but seamless, adding depth and a gentle roundness rather than overt wood character. The bubbles is sharper and more precise, contrasting nicely with the wine’s creamy texture.
