The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Corbeaux 1er Cru, hitherto blended into the "Capita" cuvée, has a perfumed bouquet, one of the most floral amongst Trapet's 2021s. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-tuned, quite supple tannins, wonderful focus, fine tension and mineralité with a pixellated finish. This is a superb Gevrey. (NM)

Three barrels made. A particularly dark purple for the vintage, the influence of the walled enclosure perhaps. Plums and dark raspberries, still with some tannins to resolve. Which will happen. Dense and dark at the finish with great potential. Drink from 2027-2033.

The 2021 les Corbeaux is one of the smallest Gevrey cuvées in the Trapet cellars this year, as fully seventy percent of the crop was lost to the April frosts. Though there is going to be very little of this wine in the market, it will be well worth keeping an eye out for it, as it is going to be superb. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a complex blend of black cherries, black plums, cigar wrapper, espresso, dark soil, bonfire, just a hint of stem tones and a discreet framing of cedary oak. I have had the good fortune, through dining at the old Rotisserie du Chambertin restaurant, to have drunk a handful of old vintages of les Corbeaux made by Jean Trapet back in the day and am so happy to see this wine again bottled on its own from the domaine. This is going to be an extraordinary wine when it is ready to drink. (Drink between 2035-2090)

There is a definite sauvage character to the overtly floral-suffused wild red berry fruit, earth and lightly spiced-infused nose. The succulent yet punchy and powerful middleweight flavors exude a fine minerality on the altogether serious, firm and mildly rustic finish that delivers very fine length. One to consider. *Burghound Outstanding!*
