Always made from the last fruit picked by the estate, the jeweled red colored 2022 Pinot Noir Bednarik Vineyard is lifted with a beautiful floral and expressive perfume with a Burgundian aesthetic. Its notes of wildflowers, raspberries, crushed stones, and pretty orange peel are followed by a medium-bodied, linear red with ultra-fine, polished tannins, and a delicate, very nuanced note of sanguine iron earth on the palate that is well-woven into the fabric. It is going to flesh out with time, but this is just a gorgeous wine already. Drink 2025-2040.

Decanter

The Bednarik Pinot Noir is from own-rooted vines planted in the late 80s in a secluded part of the Tualatin Hills appellation. Floral aromatics of violets, dried lavender and spice lean forward with a background of ripe cherry flesh and smoky citrus tones. The palate is fresh yet fleshy, with ripe berries, roughly chopped mint and muddled strawberries. The texture and structure imbue this wine with elegance. It finishes tart with Montmorency cherries and just a kiss of fresh ground white pepper.

Int'l Wine Review

Pommard and Wadensvil clones create the fruit for the 2022 Bednarik Vineyard Pinot Noir from Hundred Suns. A gorgeous light to medium ruby core with a water rim showcases the wine nicely. Heavenly aromas of bright Bing cherries, tilled earth, Chinese five spice, dried mountain herbs, and hints of nutmeg and allspice flow across the palate. Crunchy acidity is balanced by the sweet, fine-grained tannins. 223 cases made.

Notes

From a tiny 6-acre planting in the Tualatin Hills AVA. The vines were planted in 1988 on their own-roots. Clones are Pommard and Wadenswil. The vineyard is dry-farmed using only organic practices. Native fermentation in neutral Ffench oak.
