2012 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Louis" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
99
James Suckling
Review Date: 08/2024Incredible aromas of brioche, bread dough and pie crust with superb, electrifying fruit, from peaches to fresh apples. It’s driven, mouthwatering and with fantastic structure, yet it’s so balanced and creamy. Very fine and silky bubbles.

One of our finest bottles at any price. This 2012 Louis Salmon is sourced from the grand crus of Mesnil, Chouilly, Cramant and Oiry, mostly from old, massal selected vines. It has been aged more than 10 years on the lees, and is one of the last of the 2012's to be released on the market. It was fermented in 75% temperature controlled stainless steel and 25% oak, and dosed very low at 3.9 grams per liter. If you are looking for the perfect blend of brioche from time in the cellar and bright freshness, look no further. This is a profoundly long, complex champagne that is still super easy to drink. -Gary Westby
