Gozona Tobaziche (Sergio & Luis Juarez) San Agustin Amatengo Uncertified Mezcal (750ml)
Review Date: 06/2024
Another super interesting bottling with a nose of pine nuts and plush orchard fruits. In the mouth, light spice, poached pear and green apple. Quite viscous and very delicious!

Notes
The young teacher Luis Enrique Juárez is originally from San Agustín Amatengo in Ejutla, Oaxaca. Worthy heir to five generations of master distillers, his training in the art of making mezcal began in his childhood at the hands of his father Sergio Juárez, a journey of discovery and learning until he managed to consolidate his own brand: Gozona Mezcal, a Zapotec word meaning, "sharing from the heart." An expert in the use of copper refrescadera still, an original technique from his town, he create mezcals of great character and authenticity that capture the spirit of his land. In the pursuit of sensory perfection, each Luis Enrique distillation is a tribute to his roots and the ancestors who bequeathed him their wisdom. He offers an elixir that transcends time and space, encapsulating history, passion and love for a tradition that endures in every sip of Gozona. This exceptional batch of Tobaziche, the exceptional Karwinskii varietal, was distilled in July of 2023 after being roasted in conical earth ovens over mesquite wood. Crushed by ox driven tahona and fermented naturally in sabino vats with mountain spring water. Only 150 liters were produced.
