Review Date: 01/2024Fine pure lemon yellow. The bouquet starts off rather reserved. A suggestion of immense weight, certainly some new oak, but waiting for the fruit and the personality of the wine to emerge. Now some coconut and the feeling that the wine is about to release its magic. Superbly suave on the palate, more lifted than I expected and still the main core of the wine does not want to be touched. A fine mineral acidity at the finish but still wait and see. Only right at the end does it all start to kick in. A wine of immense density for the very long-term future. Retasting the glorious Cabotte reinforces the majesty of this Montrachet. Drink from 2034-2045+.

Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "0.89ha bought in 1838, with only 4 (known) owners in centuries. Obviously larger, obviously another level of complexity – a sort of zen calm to this nose. Ultra direct, totally fluid. Concentrated without weight. Mineral and direct – but at the same time with such impressive width. And the finish is also haunting but with width. That’s a properly great one. Possibly the best that I’ve tasted this year!" (10/2023)
