A mid-slope and Southern exposure coupled with deep, chalky mineral-rich soil Serpentieres is considered to be one of the top 1er Cru vineyard sites in Savigny-les-Beaune. Structured, deep and complex this is a fantastic offering from the amazing 2022 red Burgundy vintage. The wine explodes on the palate with layer-after-layer of sappy red fruit with spice and mineral notes. The expression here is so pure and fresh it is irresistible and hard to fathom that this wine will get even better with a few years of age if you can be patient. A classic example of Savigny-les-Beaune from one of the top sites in the appellation.

A bigger style than the "Aux Gravains", the "Seperentieres" is a more effusive style with dark black cherries and milk chocolate. There is back of the palate tannin and a lingering finish of minerals and acid. Super flavorful and a great balance of full fruit and acidity.

Notes

From K&L On the Trail blog: "Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. His wines from Burgundy's Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation are known as great values, and both the reds and whites are equally strong. Giboulot's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and purity. The whites are done in a feminine style with rounder fruit and a certain elegance that lingers long on the palate. His domaine holdings outside of Savigny are some of the best in the region with eastern exposures that allow for full ripeness and plumpness of flavor."
