Ripe and expressive on the nose, perfumed but with really fragranced blackcurrant elements. Lifted and lively on the palate, a good rush of bright red fruits - strawberries, raspberries and red cherries. It has that slight St-Estephe austerity in the chalky, salty, graphite edged tannins, just at the fore right now, but they slowly open to allow the fruit to come through. This has a nice energy, good persistence and mouthwatering quality. It's lightly framed but packs a punch in terms of flavour. Lean as you'd expect but sleek with clarity and precision. A nice effort, a surprise and great for drinking now. (GH)
