W.L. Weller is a bourbon brand owned by the Sazerac Company and produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The brand is named for William Larue Weller, a 19th-century Louisville whiskey wholesaler who became known for selling bourbon made with wheat as the secondary grain rather than rye—an early example of what is now called wheated bourbon. Old Weller Antique is one of several expressions in the current W.L. Weller portfolio, bottled at a higher proof and made with the same wheated mash bill used for the distillery’s other Weller bottlings.
