Pure aromas of strawberries, raspberries, crème de cassis, wild mint and violets grow generously in in the glass. The palate presents distinguished layers of fruit, followed by stone and black peppercorn in its finish. This wine has the ability to age well through 2035+. (AI)

Black raspberries, spice wood, violets, and some bouquet garni like nuances all emerge in Remizières's 2021 Cornas, a medium-bodied, elegant Cornas that has fine, ripe tannins, solid overall balance, and a great finish. It’s an outstanding 2021 that vinified and aged in 50% new demi-muids. Give it a few years and enjoy over the following decade.

Notes

The Desmeures family of Domaine des Remizières are third-generation winemakers who originally sold grapes to the local cooperative. After completing their winery in 1974, the family began production at their new property. The estate is now managed by Phillipe Desmeures, his daughter, Emilie, and son, Christophe. They have expanded to 30 hectares with vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Hermitage, and now Cornas. Emilie oversees the winemaking, with her brother Christophe tending to the vineyards. The Cornas actually comes from a parcel owned by Christophe's wife's family. It is in the hallowed lieu-dit of Reynard, one of the most sought-after parcels in the appellation. Aged in a mix of first- and second-use oak barrels for about a year, the wine has a saturated color, rich body, and long expansive flavors. A true collectible from this region and one of our top DI producers.
