The 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Origine bursts with energy. Made of grapes from 30-year-old vines grown in a density of 5,500 per hectare, it comes in at 13.45% alcohol. The 2022 is laced with raspberry jam, ripe blackberry, gravel and leafy elements. Earthy scents add further contrast. Concentrated and refreshing, this is a medium-bodied Crozes-Hermitage with absolutely no hard edges. (NG)(

Blackberries, mulberries, leather, and savory, floral, peppery nuances define the 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Origine, a medium-bodied, elegant, nicely balanced, and enjoyable 2022. It shows the straighter, focused style of the vintage and is best enjoyed over the coming 4-6 years or so. As with everything from this notable estate, it's well made.

There are few Syrahs on our shelves that hit this consistently as the Remizieres Crozes. Now called the "Origine" their intro level Crozes is still all estate fruit brought up mostly in tank and large format barrels. It has all the beautiful red and black fruit with subtle tones of crushed pepper and tobacco. Remizieres has just a little more weight than your average Crozes, so expect that fleshy fruit to stand up as well. The 2022 is just a pure juicy and delicious Syrah that over delivers for its humble price.

Another one of these insane bargains from Remizieres. Big and bold with cassis, licorice, light cola, black cherries. A light savoriness keeps things interesting and fun. Too crazily easy to drink.

Notes

The Desmeures family of Domaine des Remizières are fourth-generation winemakers who originally sold grapes to the local cooperative. After completing their winery in 1974, the family began production at their new property. The estate is now managed by Phillipe Desmeures, his daughter Emilie, and son Christophe. They have expanded to 30 hectares with vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Hermitage. Emilie now oversees the winemaking, with her brother Christophe tending to the vineyards. All destemmed, this is aged in tank and large oak foudre. A pure expression of the grape and the gravelly soils from which it comes.
